Body Piercing FAQ’s

How do I clean my body piercing?

We suggest you clean your body piercing with saline solution soaked in a clean cotton pad or cloth. The Association of Professional Piercers recommends cleaning with alcohol-free and hydrogen peroxide-free mouth rinse for any oral piercings.

How are piercings done?

We do our piercings using single-use hollow point needles, disposable pre-packaged clamps, and the piercer's professional steady hand and eye coordination.

How painful is a body piercing?

All body piercings vary in pain and in most cases, pain levels depend on the individual. Generally speaking, piercings hurt only when the skin is being pierced. Afterwards, a warm burning sensation may be felt in the pierced area, for which the intensity depends entirely on how your body reacts to a fresh wound.

How do I know if my piercing is infected?

Some typical signs of infection include redness, swelling, and tenderness. If you suspect your piercing is infected, we suggest you contact your healthcare professional and notify your piercer immediately for further instruction. To prevent infection, it is essential that you keep up with aftercare for your own health and safety.

How long does it take for a body piercing to heal?

Healing times differ depending on the location of the piercing and the individual. Some parts of the body will take less time to heal, while others could have a four-month to one-year healing process. Your piercing professional will be able to tell you everything you’ll need to know about your healing timeline. A piercing might seem healed before the healing process is complete. This is because piercings heal from the outside in. Although it feels fine, the tissue remains fragile on the inside. Be patient, and keep cleaning throughout the entire healing period.”

If I remove my jewelry to change it, will my piercing close?

You should only switch your jewelry or remove your piercing after the healing period disclosed by your piercing professional. All healing times vary, so if you have any questions, contact your piercer for more information.

Will body piercings leave a scar?

Short answer is yes, all piercings leave a telltale sign that it was once pierced. Some bodies heal well enough that scarring is almost undetectable. Scar tissue varies depending on the piercing site location and the individual.

Can I wear a different gauge size than my current body jewelry?

Yes. You can change your gauge size smaller with no problem. Going larger will require some stretching to be done, and will feel tight around your jewelry. You should seek professional advice before doing so, as increasing gauge size too fast can rupture the healing skin.

How can I hide my body piercing?

If you want to make your piercing less noticeable, you can use a clear retainer. A piercing retainer will blend into your skin, making your piercing less noticeable than normal. In addition, some piercings are easier to hide than others.

How old do you have to be to get a piercing?

18 years old and up are capable of fully consenting to the piercing procedure. Anyone younger than 18 but no younger than 10 will require parental consent and the piercer has the final discretion to determine whether or not the child can handle the piercing process and take care of it well enough, so as to not endanger themselves.
