This policy explains how Sting Studio (owned and operated by Derrick) collects, uses, and protects your personal information. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Ontario rules.
Who we are
Sting Studio is a solo tattoo studio in Ottawa. Derrick is the only person who handles your information for bookings, consent, and follow-up.
What we collect
We may collect:
- Booking and contact details: name, phone number, email address, and messages you send us.
- Consent form information: answers about your health, allergies, medications, and medical conditions; emergency contact; photo ID type; and your signature and consent date. We ask for these so we can tattoo you safely and meet legal requirements.
- Photos of your tattoo: only when you give photo consent. We may use them on our website, social media, or portfolio.
- SMS and email messages: sent and received through our studio tools (including GoHighLevel) for booking confirmations, reminders, review requests, and aftercare check-ins.
- Website data: basic analytics and cookies that help us understand how the site is used (for example page views). These do not identify you by name unless you fill out a form.
We do not collect more than we need for the reasons below.
Why we collect it
We use your information to:
- Book and confirm appointments
- Complete consent and run a safe session
- Send appointment, healing, and rebooking messages (only if you have opted in or it is part of the service you requested)
- Improve the website and our service
- Meet legal and health-related obligations for a tattoo studio
How we store and share it
Your information is stored in our booking and studio systems (including GoHighLevel) and related tools we use to run the business. Access is limited to Derrick.
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share information only when required by law, or with service providers who help us run the studio (for example messaging or website tools), under rules that protect your information.
Text messages (SMS)
If you receive texts from us, you can stop them at any time by replying STOP. You can also email or call us and ask to be removed from message lists.
Your rights
Under PIPEDA, you can ask to:
- See the personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct it
- Ask us to delete it (where the law allows; we may need to keep some records for legal or health reasons)
